For over 20 years, Kiana Cook, has been practicing dance and performing arts. Her work is in the vernacular forms of Hip Hop and street dance has seen her visiting over 10 countries meeting and collaborating with street dance practitioners.
LOUD embodies the intersections of cultural entanglement, resistance, and transformation. Rooted in Afro-diasporic concepts and contemporary Black-created street dance forms (Hip Hop, Krump, and House), LOUD explores the politics of sound and movement as tools for resilience, liberation, joy, and play. Each section weaves histories, cosmologies, and personal revelations to challenge colonial legacy while celebrating the vitality of “Neo-African,’ Black Indigenous performance practices.
LOUD, performed as a quintet and as a solo has been performed at various symposiums on University of Michigan’s campus and has been invited to the Performance Studies International Conference, Fortaleza, Brazil in December 2025.
