Though designed for children (ages 6–12) and their families, this workshop invites PACE artists and delegates to bring their own recyclable waste (plastic, paper, small objects) and transform it into collaborative art, guided by Chaná. The activity encourages early artistic expression, bonding between peers and family members, and raises awareness about sustainable habits through creative reuse. The session includes time for welcoming participants, litter selection, and group facilitation.
Chaná’s work aims to raise awareness about the role we all play in combating climate change. By transforming waste into art, the work emphasizes the potential for rethinking consumption and waste management in a way that protects the planet. It engages audiences of all ages, encouraging them to reflect on their own actions and environmental impact.
Facilitator: Algy Chaná Alberto de Sá’s artistic practice is strongly anchored in environmental education, youth empowerment, and community-based outreach. A key example is Green Art Mafalala: Together for Our Planet (2021), a British High Commission–funded project linked to the COP26 climate summit.
