The residents 1 and 2 is a personal journey that draws its original concept from the artist’s father’s personal history. As a soldier, his life and sacrifices profoundly shaped the artist’s identity and culture. The artist will honour his legacy, whilst capturing the narrative of patriots whose stories resonate across nations. The work depicts the courage of a self-assured hero who lays down his life for the greater good, fiercely defending his people and nation.

Hirut Getachew is a collaborator and experienced artist with a BA in Fine Arts from Addis Abeba University fine art and design school, who has been professionally drawing, painting, and sculpting for over 8 years.
