A team from the University of Michigan uses art to advance social justice and self-healing.
Colourism: A Global Phenomenon includes a roundtable and performances on the subject of colourism -- racism across and within groups based on variations of skin colours and tones. The collaborators will share their stories and their understanding of the impact of colourism on populations across the globe, exploring how a myriad of art forms can be used to help develop awareness around colourism and combat the pernicious effects of colourism. The event includes multimedia works, discussions and audience participation, highlighting artworks, including Colourism, a multimedia art exhibit that took place at the University of Michigan in 2025.
